  • 17th September 2010

We wanted to create a page of everybody's memories of the day, including our own so that as we get grey and old and our memories fail us, we will have somewhere to visit and recollect, forever! Send us your memories and messages here and we will post them in our "Memoirs"

    Rob (The Groom)

Without doubt, our wedding day was the best day of my life. I should perhaps say it was on par with the day Sebastian was born but I'd be lying. That day was gruesome. Magical in so many ways of course...but not one I'd like to relive. I digress.
The 17th September 2010 is a day I could relive over and over again. It couldn't have been better if we tried. I married the most perfect and beautiful girl in the world who made me the luckiest man alive. What else could I ask for. I'd like to say a few thank you's with an excerpt from my speech on the day: "...I'd like to say a special thank you to our parents, my mum, Debbie, my step-dad Drew and Katie's mum and dad, Maureen and Neil. Without you guys we wouldn't be here and wouldn't be the people we are today. Thank you for all your support right up to this point. Thankyou to my close group of mates who I couldn't do without - you guys know who you are. Not least Mark my best man, best mate and all round good guy. You know, Mark is a great friend and will always be there for you...well I say he'll always be there...he's bound to be a couple of hours late because he's doing his hair and makeup...but eventually, he'll be there."

    Katie (The Bride)

I want to thank my wonderful husband for building this amazing site, something I will treasure forever and that we can all look back on and through which we can relive the happiest day of our lives. I've been blessed in so many ways, and Im truly grateful for the family I was born to, and for the new family I've married into, you are all such an integral and precious part of our lives and I thank you for all you've done and do for us both. I'm also grateful for all our wonderful, loyal and fun loving friends, Mark was the best bestman you could hope for and he will always be a true and valued friend to Rob and I.

I would also like to thank my beautiful bridesmaids, Georgina, Hannah, Emma, Natalie, Jane and Charlotte, you made me incredibly proud and Ill never forget the moment I watched you leave me as you walked down the aisle two by two, or our bridesmaids dance to Stacey Orreco which has been 'our song' for the last ten years. A few other memories I'd like to immortalise here are the reggae vibe thanks to 'The Mute' who sang me down the aisle to Eva Cassidy's songbird and provided homemade shakers for the guests! My wonderful wedding cake made by a cake making genius whom I would highly recommend! My beautiful wedding necklace, a present from my mum which read 200m when it should have read Zoom! (The song I was born to). Other memorable moments include the journey from the monastery to the evening reception in an open top classic car… A special thanks to the man who shouted "you bloody fool!" to Rob! … For those guests who took the coach from the monastery to the reception, I have been told that you spontaneously sang 'stand by me' a special song which lets me know my granddad Frank is still around and the song we chose for our first dace as a dedication to June and Frank. I had never spoken about this to anyone before the first dance and so I know for sure that it was his way of letting everyone know that he is always around, watching over us… My wonderful presents from my husband, which included a pair of converse trainers… Possibly the best wedding present ever as I was literally able to dance all night!… And finally our magical wedding night spent in the ultra glam pent house suite at the Hilton, I'll never forget the view…. of my gorgeous husband… butt naked… snoring in the bed! (only kidding Rob).

So finally, Thank you Rob, you have made me the luckiest woman alive, you have been the making of me, you have changed my whole life and each day I wake up feeling content, thank you for co-creating the most beautiful little boy in the world, you both give my life meaning and I will work hard, each and every day to be the best I can be so that your lives can pass by happily. All my love to you both eternally, Mummy Jones xxx

Mark a.k.a G-Nutz, GI, G-Tangent (The Best Man)

What a brilliant day to remember, I'm sure you will all agree, and for those who could not make it then what a great way to get a full insight to Rob and Katie's special day, and of course Seb's first birthday. I'm sure everyone heard how Rob and Katie first met? Well Katie poked Rob, Rob then told me, he gave her a good poking back, now they are as happy as can be! I believe there was also a similar incident on Facebook.

I had the honour of being Rob's best man and over the past 18 years Rob has played the biggest part in developing my sense of humor, so I apologise if my speech was not funny, but Rob was partly to blame. My title of best man was not fitting on the day, as Rob was the best man, he's my best friend and I was so happy to be able to share the most amazing part of his life, cheers mate. A big thank you to Debbie, Drew, Moreen and Neil and of course Katie and Rob for letting us all share their special day. Katie looked absolutely stunning and Rob didn't look to bad either, even though he copied my outfit. Rob's incredibly lucky to have married Katie, she really deserved someone loyal, loving, caring and as fun and outrageous as she is, so thank god he married her before she found someone else!

Not only did he sell his motorbike to pay for the rock on Katie's finger, but somehow he managed to give Katie something even better than money can buy, Sebastian. He is the most gorgeous kid with the best parents he could possibly have and he is going to have the greatest time growing up with Rob as his dad. He will take him on long walks, teach him the wonders of the world, show him that you can preserve any insect with a few coats of PVA glue, that farting is the best thing since the internet and that multi-tasking means standing, whilst holding a pint of Stella.

I did actually congratulate Rob before the wedding, I told him he would always look back on this day as the happiest and best thing he has ever done! Fitting words to mark the end of a fantastic stag weekend! Rob really enjoyed wearing his dress, it's not the first time he's worn one. I really, could not of picked, anyone, more perfect, to be with my best mate than Katie, she really is a saint for putting up with some of Rob's habits, he blames the cat for his stinks, he can be a moody sod when he wants to be, and he's still probably struggling to figure out what cutlery is, and that you can wash plates, not lick them and put them back. Rob, now that you're married, I hope you have discovered toilet paper and you stay seated, wipe and flush, not stand and wash with the shower head.

To the most loving, kind, funniest and craziest friends I could ever ask for to be a part of my life. I hope their only ups and downs are between the sheets and with all my heart, I love you both and I hope you have the longest and happiest marriage anyone could possibly wish for.
